Sony has shared its financial results for the first quarter of 2025. The Japanese technology giant announced that exactly 2.8 million PlayStation 5s were sold in the three-month period. The company’s total PS5 sales to date are 77.8 million.

PlayStation 5 is leaving its fourth year behind since its launch in November 2020; it is still preferred by millions of new users. However, Sony, which sold 4.5 million units in the last quarter of last year, experienced a significant decline in this quarter.
The new data shows that the console’s sales momentum is slowing down. Sony also announced updated data on the PlayStation Network (PSN) platform. Accordingly, the number of monthly active users of PSN has reached 124 million. This figure means an increase of 6 million compared to the previous period.
The company also announced the total game and software sales for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. A total of 76.1 million games and software were sold in the quarter ending March 31, 2025. 5.9 million of these were Sony’s own productions.
Sony also increased its sales in this area compared to the previous quarter. The shared data revealed that the PlayStation 5 continues to exist in the market and the PSN ecosystem continues to grow.
